John S. Getway WWII Paratrooper was Sawhill retiree The Sharon Herald Sat Apr 12, 2014, 10:22 PM EDT John S. Getway of Sharpsville passed away surrounded by the love of his family at 9:53 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, in the Hospitality Care of Hermitage. He was 92. Mr. Getway was born Aug. 30, 1921 in Sharpsville to Charles Gyetvai and Victoria Santos Gyetvai. Mr. Getway was intensely proud of his service in the Army during World War II where he served with the Airborne Infantry with the 82nd Airborne Division and 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment. On May 28, 1958, Mr. Getway married his wife Elizabeth Gray Getway, who passed away in 2012.
